MATTHEW CARLSON is an actor, playwright, and composer.  New York credits include Roadshow by Stephen Sondheim and Hamlet (The Public), DR.C: Or How I Learned to Act in 8 Steps (Mitu/3 Legged Dog).  Regional: Prior Walter in Angels in America: Parts 1 & 2 (Playmakers Repertory), George in All My Sons (Barrington Stage), Ken in Red (Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park/St. Louis Rep), The Merchant of Venice and Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare Theatre, DC), The Glass Menagerie and Picnic (Triad Stage), The Foreigner and The Miracle Worker (St. Louis Rep).  As a playwright, he is the author of These Northern Stars, Inside the Hand and home, sweet (finalist for the 2010 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center).  We Outran the Sun premiered at Studio Tisch and was subsequently produced at Triad Stage in Greensboro, NC and the Hudson Guild Theatre in New York.  He has also written music for Amazons and Their Men by Jordan Harrison (Clubbed Thumb) and The Invention of Tragedy by Mac Wellman (Write/Act, NYU Grad Acting).
